Apantac Multiviewers Display Wayin Social TV for Broadcasters

Apantac, provider of cost-effective multiviewers, video walls, extenders, and signal processing solutions announced today that it has partnered with Wayin, a social media technology company at NAB 2014.

Wayin will premier its innovative broadcast solution, Wayin Broadcast, and demonstrate how it aggregates, curates and contextualizes social media content and seamlessly integrates within the production workflow. The Wayin Broadcast solution ensures that a broadcast station or network can identify and display relevant tweets on air for its immediate production needs. Social media content is displayed and visualized in a number of different ways, tailored to fit station requirements, and enhance viewer participation and engagement.

In order to creatively demonstrate its Wayin Broadcast solution and display social media feeds on its NAB booth SL11508, Wayin chose to use an Apantac TAHOMA DE “Universal” Multiviewer. Apantac’s Multiviewer adds the technology element for Wayin to demonstrate how twitter can be generated and imaginatively displayed in a production workflow. Content will be fed from a number of graphics boxes (Vizrt, Ross, Chyron), web pages, and video playback machines into the Apantac DE Multiviewer, which then displays the content feeds on a single large monitor for effective visualization and multi-image display.

The TAHOMA DE “Universal” family of multiviewers accepts both computer and broadcast signals - 4-16 HDMI, DVI, VGA, YPbPr, YC , Composite as well as 3G/HD/SD-SDI sources for multi-image display. The mix and match of both computer and broadcast signals offers an integrative approach to signal monitoring.

“The TAHOMA Universal Multiviewer is an ideal tool to monitor all the activities for the second screen and beyond, acting like a central command center. We provided similar technology to our local NBC affiliate during the 2014 Winter Olympics,” comments Thomas Tang, President of Apantac. “The Wayin Broadcast solution with our Multiviewer technology is an incredibly effective way to streamline social media into the broadcast environment, as well as integrate audience comments on screen and help turn data into visuals.

“Our partnership with Apantac provides us with the opportunity to effectively and creatively visualize and tell our story at NAB 2014,” comments Tim Glomb, VP of Media and Entertainment at Wayin. “Broadcasters need a way to highlight the great social media content that its customers are engaged in, and the Wayin Broadcast and Apantac Multiviewer solution allows them to do so.”
